How to ask questions, understand tool use indicators, approve actions, and manage conversations
Asking Questions
Type naturally — the AI understands CRM context.
Type your message in the input area and press Enter to send. Use Shift+Enter for a newline without sending.
Messages have a 5,000-character limit. A counter appears when you approach the limit (above 4,000 characters) — it turns amber near the cap and red if you exceed it.
Image and file uploads are not currently supported. If you paste an image or drag a file into the input, a notice will suggest describing what you need in text instead.
Example questions:
- "Show me my at-risk deals"
- "What tasks are overdue?"
- "Find companies in the healthcare industry"
- "Summarize my pipeline health"
- "Create a follow-up task for Acme Corp due next Monday"
- "Help me prioritize my deals this week"
- "Draft an email to Sarah about the renewal"
What the AI Will & Won't Discuss
The assistant is focused on CRM operations and sales strategy.
The AI assistant is designed to be a business advisor grounded in your CRM data. It will help with sales strategy, pipeline planning, email composition, and workflow optimization.
If you ask about topics outside its scope (code, medical advice, general trivia), it will redirect you back to CRM-related help. For competitor questions, it will only assist with migrating data from another CRM into Laureo.
Understanding Tool Use
The AI uses tools to read and modify your CRM data. Indicators show you what's happening.
When the AI needs to look up data or perform an action, you'll see an inline progress card in the conversation with a friendly description of what's happening:
- Executing — A spinner with a description (e.g., "Searching companies..."). After 3 seconds, an elapsed timer appears.
- Completed — A checkmark with a result summary (e.g., "Found 3 companies"). For single-entity lookups, a clickable entity card shows the record name, type badge, and a link to the record.
- Failed — An X icon with an error message
Click on a completed card to expand it and see the data returned.
Approving Actions
Write actions require your approval before executing (in Ask Before Edits mode).
In Ask Before Edits mode (the default), when the AI wants to create or modify a record, an approval card appears in the chat showing a preview of the proposed changes. The card includes a badge indicating the action type (CREATE, UPDATE, or ACTION).
- Approve — Execute the action immediately
- Edit & Approve — Opens editable fields so you can modify the values before executing. Click "Save & Approve" when done, or "Cancel Edit" to go back.
- Deny — Cancel the action; the AI acknowledges and continues
After approval, a result card shows whether the action succeeded, with a link to the created or modified record.
In Auto Edits mode, all actions execute without confirmation. This mode must be enabled by your organization admin.
Message Feedback
Rate AI responses to help improve the assistant.
After each AI response, thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons appear below the message timestamp. Click one to send feedback on that response. Feedback is one-click and anonymous to the AI — it helps improve response quality over time.
Once you rate a message, the selected icon highlights (green for positive, red for negative) and cannot be changed.
Streaming & Stop Generation
Responses stream in real-time. You can stop generation at any time.
AI responses appear character by character as they're generated. A blinking cursor indicates the response is still streaming.
To stop a response mid-stream, click the stop button (red square icon that replaces the send button) or press Escape. The partial response is preserved.
If the AI is "thinking" before responding, you'll see a pulsing indicator. After 3 seconds, an elapsed timer appears. Once complete, you can expand the thinking block to see the AI's reasoning.
Chat History & Conversations
Conversations are saved automatically and can be continued later.
Every conversation is automatically saved. In the panel, use the conversation dropdown at the top to switch between recent chats. In full-page mode, the sidebar lists all conversations grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, Past 7 Days, Past 30 Days, Older).
Conversation titles are auto-generated after your first exchange. You can also:
- Start a new conversation with the "New Chat" button
- Search conversations by title using the search bar
- Rename a conversation by hovering over it and clicking the pencil icon
- Export a conversation as a text file by clicking the download icon
- Archive conversations to move them out of the main list (toggle between Conversations and Archived tabs)
- Unarchive conversations from the Archived tab
- Delete conversations permanently (requires confirmation)
The sidebar loads conversations in pages. Click Load older conversations at the bottom to see more.
Context Health & Long Conversations
The assistant tracks conversation length and warns you when quality may degrade.
A context health indicator in the panel header shows how much of the AI's context window has been used. As conversations grow longer:
- At 30 messages — a notice suggests starting a fresh chat for new topics
- At 40 messages — a warning that earlier messages will be condensed, with a "Start New Chat" button
- At 50 messages — a strong recommendation to start a new conversation
When the AI condenses earlier messages, a system notice appears with the number of messages summarized. You can expand it to see what the assistant remembers from the condensed portion.
Connection & Offline Status
Banners keep you informed about connectivity issues.
The chat input area shows status banners when there are connectivity issues:
- Offline (red) — Your device has lost its internet connection. Messages will fail until connectivity is restored. The input is disabled.
- Live updates paused (amber) — The real-time connection is temporarily down. The chat still works, but you may need to refresh to see new messages from background runs.
Copying Messages
Copy any message to your clipboard with one click.
Hover over any message to reveal a copy button. Click it to copy the message text to your clipboard. This works for both your messages and AI responses.
