Drafting Emails with AI

Use the AI assistant to compose email drafts that you review and send — nothing is sent automatically

What It Does

The AI assistant can compose email drafts based on your instructions.

When you ask the AI to draft an email, it creates a compose window pre-filled with a subject line and body text. You can review, edit, and send the email yourself. The AI never sends emails automatically.

Safe by design
Email drafts bypass the approval flow because they never modify your CRM data or send anything. You always have the final say before clicking Send.

How to Trigger

Use natural language to ask the AI to draft an email.

1

Open the AI panel

Click the "Ask AI" button at the bottom-right of any page, or press Cmd+. (Mac) / Ctrl+. (Windows).
2

Describe the email

Type something like "Draft an email to acme@example.com about our Q2 proposal" or "Write a follow-up email to this contact."
3

Review the draft

The AI will show a card with "Open Draft" — click it to open the compose window pre-filled with the subject and body.
4

Edit and send

Review the draft in the compose window, make any changes, and click Send when ready.

Linked Contacts

When drafting from a contact or company page, the AI uses context.

If you open the AI panel while viewing a contact or company, the AI automatically knows who you are looking at. Say "Draft an email to this person" and it will use their email address and name. The email will also be linked to that contact in your CRM activity timeline when sent.

What AI Doesn't Do

Important limitations to be aware of.

FieldDescription
Auto-sendThe AI never sends emails automatically. You must click Send.
HTML formattingDrafts are composed in plain text. You can add formatting in the compose window.
AttachmentsThe AI cannot attach files. Add attachments manually in the compose window.
Multiple recipientsThe draft targets a single recipient. Add CC/BCC manually if needed.

Pro Tips

Get better results from AI email drafting.

  • Be specific about tone: "Draft a formal email..." vs "Draft a casual email..."
  • Provide context: "We met at the trade show last week" helps the AI write a relevant opening.
  • Include key points: "Mention our 20% discount and the demo scheduled for Tuesday."
  • Use page context: Open the AI panel from a contact page and say "Draft a follow-up email" — the AI will use that contact's details.
