Personal, cross-device settings for how Laureo chats behave and personalize: approval mode, send key, density, response style, role lens, and custom instructions
Tune your chats from a slide-in panel on the Laureo AI page, or from a full settings page.
Chat Settings control how Laureo behaves while you chat and how it writes for you: the mode new chats start in, which key sends a message, how dense the conversation looks, and how Laureo tailors its answers. You can reach these settings two ways, and they always show the same values:
- The settings panel: open it from the gear icon on the Laureo AI page. It slides in from the right so you can change a control and keep your conversation in view behind it.
- The settings page: go to Settings > Laureo AI preferences for the same controls laid out on a full page.
These five controls shape the mechanics of a conversation: when Laureo asks before acting, how you send a message, how much space messages take, whether starter prompts appear, and whether Laureo offers a next step once work is done.
| Field | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Default approval mode | Choose whether new chats start in Ask first (Laureo asks before it makes any change) or Auto (approved actions run without a prompt each time). This only sets the starting mode. You can still switch inside any conversation, using the permission control in the assistant header, where the same two modes read Ask before changes and Make changes automatically. That header control offers Make changes automatically only once an administrator has turned automatic changes on for your organization; until then a conversation asks before every change whichever mode is set here. | Ask first |
| Send messages with | Pick which keystroke sends a message: Enter to send, or ⌘/Ctrl+Enter. Choose ⌘/Ctrl+Enter if you would rather use a plain Enter for a line break and send deliberately. | Enter to send |
| Message density | Set the spacing between messages in a conversation. Comfortable gives each message more breathing room; Compact fits more of the conversation on screen at once. | Comfortable |
| Show suggested prompts | Turn the starter prompts shown on the empty chat screen on or off. Turn it off if you prefer to open a new chat to a blank composer. | On |
| Suggest one next action | When a piece of work finishes cleanly, Laureo may offer a single next step that advances the same goal, such as opening the quote it just prepared. It offers at most one, never while work is running or waiting, and a suggestion never runs on its own. Dismissing one with Not now is remembered for that kind of suggestion. | On |
These three controls tailor Laureo's answers to you. They shape how it writes across every chat, without changing what it is allowed to do or see.
| Field | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Response style | How long and detailed answers should be: Concise for short replies, Balanced for a middle ground, or Detailed for fuller explanations. | Balanced |
| Role lens | Bias answers toward a sales role: My role (auto), SDR, AE, or Manager. My role (auto) follows your CRM role automatically, so pick a specific role only when you want answers framed for a different one. | My role (auto) |
| Custom instructions | Free-text notes on how Laureo should respond to you: tone, format, and what you work on. These apply to every chat. Up to 1,500 characters. | Empty |
Custom instructions is a free-text field, so it saves a moment after you stop typing and again when you click away. There is no separate save step. A live counter shows how close you are to the 1,500-character limit.
This section is not a set of chat controls. It points you to one preference that lives elsewhere, and explains a couple of things Laureo handles for you:
- Prompt library: pin, hide, and curate your starter and custom prompts. Select Manage prompt library to open it.
Theme is app-wide rather than a chat setting, so it is not in this panel. Change it from the profile menu in the top-right corner, or on Settings > Appearance.
There is no save button. Every change autosaves the moment you make it. You will see a brief Saving… indicator followed by a quiet Saved confirmation. Because the panel and the settings page read and write the same preferences, a change in one appears in the other right away, and because they are stored on your account they are ready on any device you sign in on.
