Personal, cross-device settings for how Laureo chats with you, and the one place to see, correct and remove what it remembers about you
Tune your chats from a slide-in panel on the Laureo AI page, or from a full settings page.
Chat Settings control how Laureo behaves while you chat and how it writes for you: the mode new chats start in, which key sends a message, how dense the conversation looks, how Laureo tailors its answers, and what it remembers about you. You can reach these settings two ways, and they always show the same values:
- The settings panel: open it from the gear icon on the Laureo AI page. It slides in from the right so you can change a control and keep your conversation in view behind it.
- The settings page: go to Settings > Laureo AI preferences for the same controls laid out on a full page.
These five controls shape the mechanics of a conversation: when Laureo asks before acting, how you send a message, how much space messages take, whether starter prompts appear, and whether Laureo offers a next step once work is done.

These four controls tailor Laureo's answers to you. They shape how it writes and what it keeps in mind across every chat, without changing what it is allowed to do or see.

Custom instructions is a free-text field, so it saves a moment after you stop typing and again when you click away. There is no separate save step. A live counter shows how close you are to the 1,500-character limit. Use it for one standing note about your style, and let Memory hold the separate facts you want kept.
Teach it by talking, then read, correct or remove any line in Personalization.
You do not need a command or a form to teach Laureo something. Ask for something lasting in your own words while you chat, such as “never sign my emails with Best again” or “I cover the northwest accounts”. Laureo saves it to your memory and answers as usual, and one short line under its answer says Saved to your memory. with the text it saved quoted back. Beside that line are two controls:
- Undo removes the line again. The note then reads Removed from your memory., and pressing Undo once more puts the line back.
- Manage opens the Memory control in your settings, with the whole list.
In the Memory control every line shows its text and, when it has one, its category. Select the pencil to correct a line in place (Save keeps the change, Cancel or Esc leaves it as it was), or the bin to remove it. A corrected line keeps its place in the list. To add a line yourself, type it in the box below the list, optionally pick a category (Communication style, Territory and accounts, Workflow, Compliance, Personal or Other), and select Add.
- Each line holds up to 280 characters, and a counter under the box shows how close you are.
- You can keep up to 50 lines.
- All of your lines together hold up to 4,000 characters. The line under the list reads, for example, 1,240 of 4,000 characters used., and every line counted there reaches every answer.
When a new line would not fit, nothing is saved and you are told how many characters are left, so you can shorten it or remove a line you no longer need. Laureo gives the same answer when you ask it in a chat. If your list was already past the limit before it was enforced, the same line tells you how many of your oldest lines are not being used, and removing one makes room.
Your memory stays yours; the workspace adds its own instructions beside it.
- Nobody else reads your memory. Your lines are stored for you in this workspace only. No screen shows one person's memory to another, administrators included.
- From your workspace. Your administrators can write short workspace instructions that Laureo follows for everyone here. When they let everyone read them, the active ones appear read-only under From your workspace in the same Personalization section, with no control on any of them.
- Which one wins. When a workspace instruction and one of your lines disagree, Laureo follows the workspace instruction and says so in one sentence. Your role and plan always come first, then the workspace instructions, then what you are asking for now, then your saved lines.
- Asking for the whole team. If you ask Laureo to remember something for everyone, it saves it for you only and says so. It never writes a workspace instruction from a chat: people who can manage workspace instructions get a link that opens them with the sentence filled in, and everyone else is told that only an administrator can set it for everyone.
- Turning personal memory off. An administrator can switch off Let people in this workspace use personal memory. While it is off, Laureo no longer uses what people asked it to remember and each person's list becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted, and you can still delete your own lines.

This section is not a set of chat controls. It points you to one preference that lives elsewhere, and explains a couple of things Laureo handles for you:
- Prompt library: pin, hide, and curate your starter and custom prompts. Select Manage prompt library to open it.
Theme is app-wide rather than a chat setting, so it is not in this panel. Change it from the profile menu in the top-right corner, or on Settings > Appearance.
There is no save button for the chat controls. Every change autosaves the moment you make it. You will see a brief Saving… indicator followed by a quiet Saved confirmation. Memory lines save when you select Add or Save on the line. Because the panel and the settings page read and write the same preferences, a change in one appears in the other right away, and because they are stored on your account they are ready on any device you sign in on.
