Trust & Escrow

Hold client funds in a segregated trust ledger — deposits, disbursements, and on-invoice balances

Segregated client funds

Money you hold for a client — never your revenue.

A trust account (also called escrow or IOLTA in legal practice) holds money you are keeping on behalf of a client — a retainer not yet earned, funds held pending a deal. It is a liability, not income. Open Trust & Escrow to manage accounts per client and matter, each with its own running balance.

Trust funds never appear in your revenue
Trust balances are structurally walled off from every revenue, MRR, and AR figure. A client's segregated funds can never be reported as your income — by design, the analytics surfaces cannot even read the trust ledger.

An append-only ledger

Every movement is a permanent entry.

Each account is backed by an append-only ledger: deposits add funds, drawdowns apply them to billed work, and refunds to client return them. Entries are never edited or deleted — corrections are made with a new adjusting entry. The account's balance is the sum of its ledger and can never go negative.

Top-up links and two-person disbursement

Clients fund accounts; disbursing requires approval.

You can send a client a deposit top-up link to fund their account; you are notified when it is paid. Disbursing trust funds (a drawdown or a return) is a money-out action and requires two-person approval on every disbursement, with no threshold — the requester files it and a second authorized person completes it from the Money Approvals inbox. The requester is notified when an approver decides, and no one can approve their own disbursement request. On an invoice, you can apply available trust funds toward the balance, and the invoice shows the client's current trust balance inline.
