Break delivery work into tasks and subtasks, mark the moments that matter as milestones, and model what blocks what
Every piece of delivery work is a task attached to the project.
Create tasks from the project detail page and they are automatically linked to the project. Each project task has its own assignee, priority, due date, and status, and it appears in two places at once: on the project (under the Related tab) and on the main Task Board, where you can filter by project. That means a project gives your delivery team a focused workspace without pulling the task out of the shared board everyone already uses.
On the project detail page, the Relatedtab shows the project's task collection in the same set of work views you use elsewhere: Overview, List, Board, Calendar, and Timeline, plus an Activity view. You work the tasks the way you prefer and the project stays the single home for all of them.
Break a single task into a short checklist of smaller steps.
When one task is really several steps, add subtasks to it. Open a task on the project, switch to its Subtasks tab, and add each step. You can tick a subtask off with its checkbox as the work gets done. Project task rows, the project overview, and the row-click preview all show a small done / total count so you can see how far along a task is at a glance.
Subtask completion is shown as a visible done / totalfraction, but it does not roll into the project's overall progress percentage. Project progress counts parent tasks, so the progress bar stays a clean measure of the main work items while the subtask counts tell you how each item is tracking underneath.
Flag the tasks that represent a real delivery moment.
Any task can be marked as a milestone: a kickoff, a client sign-off, a go live, or any date that matters to the delivery. A milestone is still a normal task with its own due date and assignee; the milestone flag simply makes it stand out where the timeline matters.
Record when one task cannot start until another is done.
Add a blocked-by dependency to a task to show it is waiting on another task in the same organization. The task detail lists what a task is blocked by and what it is blocking, so the chain of work is easy to read.
Your custom task fields work the same on project tasks.
Any custom fields your organization has configured for tasks are available on project tasks too, with full parity: you can set them when you create or edit a task on a project, and they travel with the task on the board and in exports. This lets you capture delivery-specific detail (a work type, an effort estimate, a sign-off reference) without a separate system.
Assigned project work shows up in your personal queue.
A task assigned to you on a project flows into My Work, your prioritized queue of everything you have to do, grouped by Overdue, Today, Upcoming, and Anytime. You do not have to open each project to see what is due: the work comes to you, and completing it there keeps the project up to date.
