Project List Settings

Customize how the projects list looks and behaves: columns, density, sorting, and default filters

Two ways to open the same settings

Tune your view from a slide-in panel on the projects list, or from a full settings page.

Project list settings control how your projects list is presented to you: which columns appear, how dense the rows are, how many records load per page, the order they sort in, and more. They apply to the List view of the projects page (the Board, Calendar, and Timeline views keep their own controls). You can reach these settings two ways, and they always show the same values:

  • The settings panel: open it from the Settings button above the projects list. It slides in from the right so you can change a control and see the list update behind it right away.
  • The settings page: go to Settings > Project list for the same controls laid out on a full page, useful when you want to review everything at once.
Your view, not everyone's
These settings are personal to you. Changing your columns, sort order, or default filter only affects how the list looks on your account. Your teammates keep their own preferences, and nothing you change here is saved onto the project records themselves.

Columns

Choose which columns appear in the list.

Toggle individual columns on or off to build the view you want. Standard columns such as project name, company, stage, start date, target end, owner, tasks, progress, budget, hours logged, and created date can each be shown or hidden, and any custom fields configured for projects appear here too. Drag the handle next to a column to reorder it. The health indicator always stays visible so a project at risk is never hidden. Hidden columns and your chosen order are remembered so the list looks the same the next time you open it. If a custom field is later removed by your admin, it simply drops out of your column choices automatically.

Density

Set how much vertical space each row takes.

Choose between Comfortable and Compact. Comfortable gives each row a little more breathing room and is easier to scan; compact fits more projects on screen at once, which is handy when you are reviewing a large portfolio. Pick whichever suits how you read the list.

Rows per page

Control how many projects load on each page.

Set how many records appear before you need to page forward. A smaller page size loads faster and keeps scrolling short; a larger page size lets you see more projects without paging. The pagination controls at the bottom of the list always reflect the page size you choose here.

Default sort

Pick the order the list opens in.

Choose the field the list is sorted by when it first loads, and whether it sorts ascending or descending. You can sort by created date, name, target end date, stage, or hours logged. New projects are shown first by default (created date, newest first). You can still re-sort at any time; the default sort just decides where the list starts each time you open it.

Default filter

Decide which projects the list shows by default.

Set a starting filter that is applied every time you open the projects list, for instance opening straight to one company, a single stage, or a particular project type (client vs internal). You can always clear or change the filter on the list itself; the default just decides what you see first.

Project notifications

Choose how you are told when a project is handed to you.

Control the notification you receive when a project is assigned to you, right from the settings panel on the list. You can choose whether to be notified in the app, by email, or both. This preference is part of your overall notification settings; open Manage all notifications from the project settings to review every category in one place.

Notifications follow you everywhere
Project notification preferences are part of your overall notification settings, so the choices you make line up with what you see in the notifications center and your other notification controls.

Saving and syncing

Changes save themselves and follow you across devices.

There is no save button. Every change you make autosaves the moment you make it, and a brief saved indicator confirms it. Because the panel and the settings page read and write the same preferences, a change in one shows up in the other immediately, and because they are stored on your account rather than in the browser, they follow you to any device you sign in on.

Customizing your view never changes what you can see
These settings only change how the list is presented to you: the columns, order, density, and which records are shown by default. They never change which projects you are permitted to access. Visibility is always governed by your role and permissions, so hiding a column or applying a default filter never exposes data you would not otherwise be allowed to see, and clearing a filter never reveals records that are off-limits to you.
