Onboarding Wizard

The 5-step setup flow that runs after signup: what it does, how to resume it, and where to find it later.

What the wizard does

After you finish checkout, Laureo runs a short setup wizard that walks you through the five things every new CRM needs: industry context, contacts, a sales pipeline, teammates, and a brief tour. The whole flow takes about five minutes and you can skip any step.

The wizard surfaces automatically the first time you land in the app and again whenever you reach /onboarding. Once you mark setup complete (or dismiss the wizard), it stops appearing. Steps save instantly, so you can move through it quickly.

Setup can talk you through it

Alongside the visual wizard, a conversational assistant can talk you through the whole thing. It opens each step with a suggestion, drives the work forward when you want it to (drafting your pipeline, loading sample data, staging imports, inviting a teammate), and hands you your first real action at the end. Nothing it does reaches your CRM until you approve it, so you stay in control the whole way.

The manual path is always available. The assistant is an optional concierge over the same steps, not a replacement: you can click through the wizard yourself, ignore the assistant, close it, or do any step by hand at any point. For the openers, the reply chips, the approve-before-anything-writes flow, and how it costs nothing beyond your existing AI budget, see the Onboarding Copilot article.

The five steps

1

Tell us about your team

Pick your industry and team size. Laureo uses this to pre-fill a pipeline shape, a set of suggested default views, and a few starter custom fields. You can change all of this later.

2

Get your data in

Three options: connect your Gmail or Outlook inbox and pull in the people you email back and forth with, upload a CSV, or load 50 sample companies and 150 people to explore Laureo without committing real data. Contacts found in your inbox go to a review list you approve before anything reaches your live CRM. If your workspace has an enrichment provider set up, then after you import or approve a batch of real contacts, Laureo offers a one-click enrichment that fills in job titles and LinkedIn profiles for the contacts you just brought in, using your plan's enrichment credits. It is optional, so you can skip it and keep going. If no provider is configured, the wizard simply moves on.

3

Confirm your pipeline

Review the suggested pipeline stages (with probability percentages) and either keep them, edit them inline, or fall back to the Laureo default. The pipeline you confirm here becomes your default opportunity pipeline, and saving it keeps your existing deals on the board by mapping them onto the stages you picked. Teammates without pipeline permissions see the pipeline your team already set up and simply continue.

4

Invite your team

Add teammates by email and assign each one a role. The step shows how many seats your plan includes and how many you can still invite, so you never over-invite. Only people with admin permissions can send invites. Invitations go out as branded magic-link emails that expire after seven days. You can also skip this step and invite people later from Admin → Users.

5

You're all set

A short summary of what got configured plus a few suggested next actions, usually add your first deal, connect your calendar, and browse your contacts. This step marks setup complete.

Skipping and resuming

Every step has a Skip for now button. Skipped steps still count as resolved: the wizard treats them as a decision you made, not something you forgot. You can reopen any step later from the setup checklist at /setup, and every row there opens its wizard step with full functionality, including the steps you already finished.

The setup checklist reads your progress as a plain count, like “3 of 5 done, 1 skipped,” so you always know exactly where you stand.

Where to find setup later

Until setup is complete, you'll see Finish setupin the left sidebar (above the divider), the account menu, and the dashboard's setup card.

Once setup is complete or dismissed, that Finish setup entry goes away in the sidebar, account menu, and mobile navigation, so it never clutters your workspace. You can still reopen the setup checklist any time from Settings → Account → Setup checklist, or from the setup card on your dashboard. Both open the in-app /setup page, and your sidebar and top bar stay put.

Pausing onboarding

You can leave the wizard at any time without losing progress. The avatar in the top-right of the wizard opens an account menu with Ask Laureo, Help Center, Save & exit, and Sign out. “Save & exit” marks your current step as in-progress and routes you back to the dashboard, so you can pick up later from any device.

Progress saves automatically and instantly as you click through each step. The header shows All changes saved when you're caught up, Saving… while a change is in flight, or Couldn't save · Retry if the network drops.

Keyboard shortcuts

Enteradvances the focused step (when the primary button is enabled and you're not typing in an input). ? opens the AI rail. Alt+← goes back. Esc closes the account menu.

Closing the wizard isn't the same as dismissing it
Leaving the wizard mid-flow (via Save & exit in the account menu, or just navigating away) keeps your progress saved and queued up. To stop Laureo from nudging you, dismiss the Setup checklist card on the dashboard via its X in the top-right corner.

FAQ

Can I skip the whole thing?

Yes. Dismiss the Setup checklist card on the dashboard via the X in its top-right corner. That hides the card and stops the nudges. Once dismissed, the setup entry disappears from the sidebar, but you can still reopen the checklist from Settings → Account → Setup checklist (or by navigating to /onboarding directly) and re-open any step at any time.

Will I lose data if I dismiss?

No. Dismissing only marks the wizard as resolved. Any contacts, pipeline edits, or invites you sent through the wizard remain.

How do I re-open it later?

While setup is in progress, use the Finish setup entry in the sidebar, account menu, or dashboard card. After you complete or dismiss setup, that entry goes away, and you reopen the checklist from Settings → Account → Setup checklist or the setup card on your dashboard. You can also navigate to /onboarding directly. The wizard resumes at your last unresolved step.

Does the wizard see my company's existing data?

The wizard only reads your profile, your industry hint, and the contacts you choose to bring in. It doesn't query existing opportunities, activities, or company records.
