Send in Each Recipient's Local Time

Deliver a scheduled campaign within a set window of each contact's own day

What it does

Send each recipient at a good time in their own timezone, not one shared time for everyone.

A normal scheduled campaign fires at a single moment for the whole audience. If your contacts are spread across timezones, that means most of them get the email at an off-hour. Recipient local-time sending fixes that: you pick a window of the day (for example 9:00 to 11:00), and each contact is sent within that window in their own timezone. Someone in London and someone in Los Angeles both receive it mid-morning their time.

On the Business and Ultra plans
Recipient local-time sending is available on Business and Ultra. On other plans a scheduled campaign sends at one shared time, which still works well for a single-timezone audience.

Turning it on

Set it in the Review step when you schedule the campaign.

  1. Build your campaign and open the Review step.
  2. Under When to send, choose Schedule and pick a start date.
  3. Check Send in each recipient’s local time.
  4. Set the local window that sending should fall inside (the hours are each contact’s own local time).
  5. Pick a fallback timezone for contacts whose timezone is unknown.
  6. Schedule the campaign as usual.

The start date you choose is when sending begins. From there, each contact is queued for the next time their local window opens, spread across the window so they do not all send in the same minute.

Where a contact's timezone comes from

It is read from the contact's company.

Each contact’s timezone is taken from the company they belong to. Set a company’s timezone on its record so its people send at the right local hour. Any contact with no timezone on file is sent using the fallback timezone you chose when scheduling, so nobody is ever dropped.

Large audiences
If your audience is bigger than your mailbox can send in a day, sending continues into each contact’s window on the following days until everyone has been reached. Your mailbox’s daily sending limits are always respected.

Good to know

A few details worth keeping in mind.

  • Leaving the option off keeps the classic behavior: one shared send time for the whole list.
  • The window hours are the contact’s local hours, not yours.
  • If a contact is already inside their window when sending begins, they are sent right away.
  • Daylight saving changes are handled automatically for each timezone.
