DocsRedeeming a Promo Code
Where to enter a promo code at signup or in Billing, what a code can do for your workspace, the rules every code follows, and what the messages you may see mean
A code carries one or more benefits, and you see each one in plain words before anything is applied.
- Extend a trial. More days on your trial. A trial never runs longer than 365 days in total; a code that would go past that adds only the days that fit, and says so.
- Add AI credits. A dollar amount of AI credits for your workspace, sometimes valid for a set number of days.
- Take money off your plan. A percentage or an amount off, for your next billed renewal, for a set number of billed renewals, or for as long as you subscribe.
- Waive the trial deposit. Some codes that extend a trial also waive the $2.99 trial deposit, so nothing is charged at signup.
A benefit that cannot apply to your workspace is still listed, followed by not applied and the reason, so you always know what a code will and will not do before you use it.
Open the field
On the step where you choose your seats, below the total, choose Have a promo code?. A Promo code field and an Apply button appear. The Free plan has no checkout, so it has no code field.
Type the code and choose Apply
Enter the code exactly as you received it and choose Apply, or press Enter. The code is checked and nothing is charged.
Read what it does
Each benefit appears under the field. A trial extension shows the new length and its end date, for example Trial extended to 90 days · ends followed by the date. A benefit that cannot apply to this signup is a plain line ending in not applied, with the reason. If none of the benefits apply, the field says This code doesn't apply to this signup. Remove the code to continue.
Check the trial terms
When the code extends your trial, the trial terms below the total change to match: the date plan billing starts, and how many days after checkout that is. When the code also waives the deposit, Due today becomes No charge today. Your card is still saved for when the trial ends.
Continue to checkout
Choose Continue to checkout. The code goes with your signup, and the payment page carries the longer trial. With a trial, AI credits and a discount are added when your workspace is created after checkout. Without a trial, the discount comes off at your first charge, so the payment page already shows it, and AI credits are added when your workspace is created. To go on without the code, choose Remove first. A code that is typed but not applied holds you on the step with Apply the code or clear it before continuing.
A workspace that already exists enters codes in the Promo code section of the Billing page.
The section is on Settings → Company → Billing. It is shown to people who can manage the subscription, which is admins and super admins by default.
Enter the code
In the Promo code section, type the code into Code and choose Check code.
Review what it would do
The section lists what the code would do for this workspace, with any benefit that cannot apply marked not applied and its reason. Nothing has changed yet. To start over, choose Clear.
Choose Apply code
Apply code appears only when the code can be applied right now. Choosing it applies the code and lists what it did, under the same field.
Below the field, Promotions on this workspace lists each promotion applied to the workspace. A promotion the Laureo team reverses leaves the list. The list shows:
- One row per promotion, with what it did and its date, marked Promo code for a code you entered or From the Laureo team for one we added. A reset of your AI usage by the Laureo team is listed as AI usage reset for the current period.
- Active discount, while a discount is live: what it takes off and where it stands, for example Active, 2 billed renewals left or Applies from your first paid invoice.
- Trial length, while the workspace is on a trial: the trial's total number of days.
- Limited uses. A code can be used a limited number of times, and many codes are single use. A workspace can use the same code only once.
- Tied to an address. Some codes work only for one email address, or for addresses at one company domain. The address you are signed in with must match, and it must be verified.
- End dates. A code may have an end date, after which it cannot be used.
- New customers. Some codes are for new customers only, so a workspace that has already had a trial, a subscription or a billing account cannot use them.
- Plans. A code may be limited to certain plans, or to monthly or annual billing.
- Trials. A code that only extends a trial cannot be used once the trial has ended. A code never starts a trial for an account that is not eligible for one, and it cannot extend a trial that is about to end.
- One discount at a time. A workspace holds one discount at a time. If one is already live, a new code's discount is not applied, while its other benefits still are.
- Billing issues first. No code can be applied while the workspace has a billing issue, such as a failed payment. Update your payment details, then try again.
They join your credit balance and cover AI use beyond your monthly budget.
- AI credits from a code are used before any Extra AI Credits you bought.
- When a code gives its credits an end date, any left unused on that date expire.
- Credits are spent once your monthly AI budget is used up, through Extra AI Credits. If Extra AI Credits were off, applying the code turns them on so the credits can be used.
- A code never turns automatic top-ups on. If they were set to run while Extra AI Credits were off, the code switches them off, and they stay off unless you turn them on.
See Extra AI Credits for how the credit balance and automatic top-ups work.
- A discount comes off your plan and seat charges. The trial deposit and add-ons, including Extra AI Credits, are never discounted.
- It is counted in billed renewals: a discount for your next month covers one renewal, and one for 3 months covers three. On annual billing the same discount counts years. A charge for a change in the middle of a billing period, such as adding a seat, never uses one up. A plan change that starts a new billing period, such as an upgrade billed right away, uses one up.
- On a trial, the discount waits and starts with your first paid invoice.
- When the last renewal is used, the discount ends on its own and the list marks it as ended.
A trial longer than 14 days is budgeted like a paid month.
The standard 14-day trial runs on a prorated share of your plan's monthly allowances (14 of 30 days), and that does not change. A trial longer than 14 days, from a promo code or from the Laureo team, gets the full monthly plan budget instead: the plan's full monthly AI budget and allowances. The AI budget is counted in monthly windows from the day the trial started, so a 90-day trial gets a fresh budget for each month of the trial. The limit on active seats during a trial stays the same whatever the trial's length.
- Trial extended, with the new end date.
- AI credits added, with the amount, the date they can be used until when they have one, and whether Extra AI Credits were turned on for them.
- Discount applied, with what it takes off.
Each notice links to the Billing page. A promotion added by the Laureo team also arrives by email; a code you enter yourself is confirmed on screen and in the app only.
- That code can't be used. Check the code, or ask whoever gave it to you.
- Promo codes are temporarily unavailable. The seats step of signup and the Billing page both show this when codes are switched off for everyone for a while, whatever the code. Continue without it, or try again later.
- You already have a checkout in progress with this code. Finish or close that checkout, then try again.
- This code is not valid for this plan. Choose a plan the code covers, or continue without it.
- A discount is already applied to this workspace. The code's discount is not added, and its other benefits still apply.
- This code extends a trial, and this workspace is no longer on a trial. The code has nothing to add once the trial is over.
- You chose to skip the trial, so the extra days do not apply. At the seats step of signup, when the trial was turned off on the plan step. Go back and turn the trial on to use the extra days.
- Promo codes can't be applied while this workspace has a billing issue. Update your payment details, then try again.
- This trial ends too soon to extend. The trial is about to end, so a code that extends it cannot be applied now.
- This code is already being applied to this workspace. Try again in a few minutes. An earlier apply of the same code is still finishing. The Billing page lists it once it is done.
- We couldn't apply this code. Contact support for help. Applying the code failed, and the Laureo team has been told. Contact support to sort it out with us.
- Too many code attempts. Try again in an hour, or continue without the code. Codes can be tried a limited number of times an hour. Wait an hour to try another code, or go on now without one.
- At the seats step of signup, This code doesn't apply to this signup. Remove the code to continue. On the Billing page, None of this code's benefits apply right now. Both mean the code is valid, but none of what it gives applies right now, so nothing is added.
- At the seats step of signup, Promo codes are unavailable right now. Try again in a minute, or continue without the code. On the Billing page, We couldn't check that code right now. Try again in a moment. Both mean the code could not be checked just then, whatever the code. Try again shortly. After Apply code on the Billing page, some parts may already have been applied: the trial end date there shows a longer trial, and the Billing page lists the promotion once it is done.
