Tags & Lifecycle Stages

Organize companies with tags, lifecycle stages, and statuses

Tags

Tags are flexible labels you can apply to companies for quick categorization and filtering.

Tags appear as colored badges on the company detail page and are also visible in the companies list view, making it easy to scan and identify groupings at a glance.

1

Adding tags

On the company detail page, locate the Tags section and click the tag selector. Type to search existing tags or create a new one on the fly. Select one or more tags to apply them to the company. Tags are saved immediately.
2

Removing tags

Click the xbutton on any applied tag badge to remove it from the company. Removing a tag from a company does not delete the tag itself — it remains available for other records.
3

Tag colors

Each tag has an assigned color set by your admin. Colors help visually distinguish between tag categories (e.g., blue for industry, green for tier, orange for region). Tags of the same color appear grouped together on the detail page.
4

Searching and filtering by tag

On the companies list page, use the Tags filter to narrow results to companies that have specific tags applied. You can select multiple tags to find companies matching any of the selected tags. Tags are also indexed in global search.
Consistent Tag Naming
Establish a naming convention for tags early on. Use consistent casing (e.g., always lowercase or title case) and avoid creating near-duplicate tags like "Enterprise" and "enterprise-tier." Your admin can merge duplicate tags in Admin > Tags if needed.

Lifecycle Stages

Lifecycle stages track where a company is in your customer journey.

Lifecycle stages represent the progression of a company through your sales and customer journey, from initial prospect to active customer and beyond. Each stage is displayed as a colored badge on the company detail page and in the list view. Your admin defines the available stages in Admin > Lifecycle Stages.

1

Changing the lifecycle stage

On the company detail page, click the current lifecycle stage badge or use the Edit panel. Select the new stage from the dropdown. The change is saved immediately, and the badge color updates to reflect the new stage.
2

Typical lifecycle progression

A common progression is: Prospect (initial awareness) → Lead (qualified interest) → Customer (closed deal, active account). Your organization may define additional stages such as Onboarding, Renewal, or Expansion.

Company Status

The status field indicates the current operational state of the company.

On HoldEngagement is temporarily paused, often due to internal decisions, budget cycles, or pending approvals.

CompetitorA company operating in the same market or space. Tracked for competitive intelligence.

FieldDescription

MediumModerate priority. Monitor and engage regularly.
HighTop priority. Requires immediate attention and proactive outreach.

Using These Fields for Filtering

All classification fields work together with filters on the companies list page.

On the companies list page, you can combine filters across tags, lifecycle stage, status, company type, and priority to create targeted views. For example, filter by Type: Customer, Status: Active, and Priority: High to see your most important active accounts. Save frequently used filter combinations as Saved Views for quick access.
