Goal Alert Emails

How goal at-risk and goal achieved alerts reach you: one alert when a goal first slips, quiet hours applied by default, per-goal deep links, and how to change the frequency or turn them off.

The two goal alerts

Laureo watches every active goal you own and tells you when it crosses a line that matters.

Goal alerts fire when a goal you own crosses a threshold, not on a fixed timer. There are two:

  • Goal at risk is the action alert: your goal is behind the pace it needs to finish on time. It is time-sensitive, so out of the box it emails you right away, and it also lands in My Work as something to act on.
  • Goal achieved is the celebration: your goal reached 100%. Out of the box it shows in your Notifications bell (and on the leaderboard); you can turn its email on if you want a copy in your inbox.

Both alerts are personal to the goal owner. A team goal notifies each member who owns it. Every alert message names the goal and, for an at-risk alert, how far behind it is (for example, "‘Q3 New Business’ is behind pace (48% complete)"). A goal you never named is described by its metric and period instead, for example "The monthly calls made target is behind pace (48% complete)".

One alert when a goal slips, then silence

Alerts follow the goal's state, not the calendar.

Laureo checks your goals every hour, but an alert is sent only when a goal changes state. The moment a goal first falls behind the pace it needs, you get one at-risk alert. While it stays behind, you hear nothing more: you already know, and the item is already sitting in My Work. One slip, one alert.

When the goal climbs back on pace, Laureo closes the loop for you. The at-risk item is cleared from My Work and its bell entry is filed, so a warning about a goal you already rescued does not sit there going stale. If that same goal slips again later, that is a genuinely new event and you are alerted again.

Quarterly and annual goals also check in each period
A long-horizon goal is different: "you are still behind on this quarter" is worth hearing at the start of a new quarter even if nothing changed. So quarterly and annual goals re-arm at each new period and can alert once per period. Daily, weekly and monthly goals do not: they alert once per slip, and stay quiet until the goal recovers and slips again.

Goal achieved works the same way. It fires the moment a goal reaches 100%, once, and does not repeat while it stays there.

One email per check, not one per goal

If several goals cross at the same time, they arrive together.

When more than one of your goals crosses in the same check, the alerts are combined into a single email that lists all of them, rather than a separate email per goal. So five goals slipping at-risk in the same check send you one email covering all five, not five inboxes-full. A single crossing keeps its own specific message. The in-app bell still shows each goal as its own entry so you can open, snooze, or act on them one at a time.

When one goal crosses on its own, the email links straight to that goal. Opening it takes you to the Goals page, scrolls to that goal, and highlights it, so you can see its progress and decide what to do next without searching. A combined email names every goal it covers in the body and carries one View goals button to the Goals page. Either way the bell keeps a separate entry per goal, and each of those still opens its own goal directly.

Quiet hours, on by default

Nothing emails you overnight unless you ask it to.

Laureo applies a quiet window of 22:00 to 07:00 in your own timezone out of the box. You do not have to switch it on. An immediate email that would land inside that window is held, not dropped: it is delivered at the first check after 07:00, so a goal that slipped at 2am is in your inbox when you start work rather than waking you up. Digest emails behave the same way, going out at the first opportunity after the window closes.

Your own settings always win. Set a different window in Settings > My preferences > Notifications and Laureo uses yours; turn quiet hours off there and email is delivered whenever it is generated, overnight included. The window is read in the timezone on your own profile, so a team spread across timezones each gets their own night, not the company headquarters' night.

The in-app bell alert always appears in real time, so you never lose the alert itself, only the after-hours email ping. A small set of urgent account messages (billing failures, security events) is deliberately exempt and delivers at any hour; goal alerts are not in that set.

Change how, or whether, goal alerts email you

The controls live with the rest of your notification preferences.

Go to Settings > My preferences > Notifications and find the Goals & Leaderboardcategory. It has a row for Goal at risk and a row for Goal achieved, each with the same three controls as every other notification type:

FieldDescriptionTypeDefault
In-AppWhether the alert appears in your Notifications bell and inbox. On by default for both goal alerts.toggleOn
EmailWhether the alert also emails you. On for Goal at risk by default; off for Goal achieved by default (turn it on to receive a copy).toggleVaries by alert
Email ModeImmediate sends the email as soon as the goal crosses (this is the default for Goal at risk). Digest holds it and rolls it into your daily or weekly digest instead. None turns the email off while keeping the in-app alert.dropdownImmediate (at risk)

To stop goal emails entirely but keep seeing them in the bell, turn Email off (or set Email Mode to None). To keep the emails but batch them, set Email Mode to Digest. Quiet hours are set once on the same page and apply to every immediate email, not just goal alerts. You can reach the exact row fast: the manage link at the bottom of any goal alert email jumps straight to that notification's row in your settings.

At risk is time-sensitive by design
Goal at risk defaults to an immediate email because a target that is slipping is usually worth acting on that day. Moving it to Digest is a deliberate trade: you get fewer interruptions, but you hear about a slipping goal later. Goal achieved is the opposite: it is good news you can read whenever, so its email is off by default and batches into the digest when you turn it on.
Goal at risk also becomes a to-do
Because an at-risk goal is something you act on, its alert can be added to My Work as a durable task that links back to the goal, and it is cleared for you when the goal recovers. Goal achieved is awareness only: you read it and move on. See My Work vs Notifications for how Laureo decides which alerts are things to do versus things to know.
