A CRM with project management, from won deal to delivered work.
Win a deal and start its delivery project from the deal itself. The project arrives with its budget, company, contacts and files, then runs on a board with stages, tasks, milestones and dependencies. Log billable time and turn it into an invoice, and share a read-only status page with the client, both on Business and Ultra.
Project boards come with every plan: up to 15 active projects on Pro, unlimited on Business and Ultra.
What is the best CRM for project management?
For a team whose projects start with a sale, the best CRM for project management keeps the deal, the delivery board, the hours and the invoice in one CRM, and that is how Laureo is built. A won deal opens a project with its budget, company and files carried over, and project boards come with every plan.
Elsewhere projects are often a higher plan or a second tool. As of October 28, 2026, Pipedrive includes Projects only on its Premium and higher plans, and monday CRM names its time tracking column among the Pro plan features.
| Step | In Laureo | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Win the deal | Start delivery on the won deal, or from an accepted quote | Every plan |
| Plan the work | Template tasks, milestones and dependencies | Every plan |
| Track the work | List, board, calendar and timeline views | Every plan |
| Log the hours | Billable time on project tasks | Business and Ultra |
| Bill the client | Unbilled time becomes a draft invoice | Business and Ultra |
| Update the client | A read-only status link | Business and Ultra |
What is an example of CRM in project management?
The clearest example is the handoff from sales to delivery: when a deal is marked won, the CRM opens a delivery project linked to the same client, so the team starts with the budget, contacts, files and template tasks instead of a blank board. In Laureo the deal then shows a live delivery status chip, so the account owner can see where the work stands without asking.
A second example runs from the quote. When a client accepts a quote, Laureo can turn it into a delivery project with one task for each line item, linked back to the quote.
Can you manage tasks in a CRM?
Yes. In a CRM with task management like Laureo, every project task has an owner, a priority, a due date and a status, and it shows on the project and on the shared task board at the same time.
Break a task into subtasks, mark the dates that matter as milestones, and record which task blocks which. Laureo refuses a circular dependency, so the plan can never contradict itself.
Start delivery from the deal you just won
When a deal is marked won, a Start delivery action appears on it. Pick a project template and a name, and Laureo creates one delivery project linked to the same company and deal. Nobody re-types the scope, because the project inherits what the sale already knows.
- 1Win the dealStart delivery appears on the closed-won opportunity.
- 2Pick a templateSeed the starter tasks and milestones, or start blank.
- 3The project opensBudget and currency from the deal amount, plus the company, its contacts and the deal files.
- 4The deal shows deliveryA live status chip on the deal reads the project stage.
- Files are copied, not sharedEach deal attachment gets its own project copy, so deleting one side never removes the other.
- One project per dealStart delivery twice and you get the same project back, never a duplicate.
- From an accepted quote tooTurn an accepted quote into a project with one task for each line item, linked back to the quote.
- The new owner hears about itWhen the project owner is someone else, they are notified that the project was handed to them.
The deal itself lives in the sales CRM pipeline, and the delivery chip only shows to people allowed to view projects.
Four views of the same projects
Every project moves through the same six stages: Planning, In Progress, Review, On Hold, Completed and Cancelled. Switch views without losing your filters, because all four read one set of projects.
- BoardOne kanban column per stage. Drag a project to the next column to change its stage.
- ListSortable columns for stage, target end, owner, tasks done, progress and health, saved as named views.
- CalendarEach project sits on its target end date.
- TimelineBars across a real date axis with month and quarter zoom, a marker for today and a diamond at each target end.
- Client or internalA project linked to a company is client work; one with no company is internal, and a filter splits the two.
Need the list elsewhere? Export the filtered, sorted view to CSV from the toolbar.
Tasks, subtasks, milestones and what blocks what
A project task is a normal task with an assignee, a priority, a due date and a status. It lives on the project and on the team task board at once, so delivery work never hides in a second app.
- SubtasksA short checklist under one task, one level deep, with a done and total count on the row.
- MilestonesFlag a kickoff, a sign-off or a go-live. It shows as a diamond on the timeline, and an overdue one is called out.
- Blocked byRecord that a task waits on another. A link that would close a loop is refused.
- Finish out of order on purposeCompleting a task that still has open blockers is allowed, after a warning.
Run the same engagement the same way every time
Save the tasks of an onboarding, an implementation or a standard engagement once, milestones included, and stamp them onto every new project. A template is a stamp, not a live link: edit it and only new projects change, delete it and existing projects keep their tasks.
- Anyone can use themEvery teammate can start a project from a template.
- Managers keep them tidyCreating, editing and deleting templates needs the manage-templates permission.
- Automations can stamp themThe Create project from template action opens a project with its starter tasks when a deal reaches Closed Won.
Build that flow in Automation, where a project stage or health change can also start a flow.
Billable hours that become a draft invoice
Log time on a project task as the work happens: the minutes, the date, an hourly rate and whether it is billable, which it is by default. The project splits its hours into billed and unbilled, and non-billable time stays on record without ever reaching an invoice.
- 1Log billable timeOn the task, from its Time tab.
- 2Generate invoice linesOne step on the project gathers all unbilled billable time.
- 3Review the draftOne line per task and rate: hours as quantity, rate as unit price.
- 4Send itThe invoice goes to the project company, ready to pay by link.
Logging time is on Business and Ultra. On Pro you can still see time already logged and invoice it, so no billable work is stranded. The invoice itself is a normal Laureo invoice, covered on Quotes and Invoices.
A read-only status link for the client
Send the client a private link to a branded status page. They open it in a browser with no account and no sign-in, and you can give the link an expiry date or revoke it at any time.
- What the client seesThe project name and stage, overall progress, the milestones with their dates, and the updates you mark as client-visible.
- What the client never seesNo health rating, budget, burn, logged hours, internal notes, author names or deal detail.
- Updates start internalA status update stays internal until you choose to publish it to the link.
- A dead link says nothingA missing, revoked or expired link shows the same neutral page with no project detail.
See which projects are drifting before the client does
Each project carries a health of on track, at risk or off track, and the health column stays visible in the list so an at-risk project is never hidden. Once a week, each project owner gets one digest of their projects that look at risk.
- Budget burnInvoiced work against the budget, or logged hours against the estimate until anything is invoiced. Over budget is called out.
- One currency, alwaysBurn reads the project in its own currency and leaves out invoices in another one, never converting them behind your back.
- The weekly at-risk digestA project is flagged when it passes its target end date, has overdue tasks, slips a milestone or goes quiet.
- Projects in ReportsActive projects, overdue tasks and at-risk projects across the workspace, then revenue won against delivery, client by client.
- On the company recordEvery client record rolls up its active, overdue and at-risk projects and their budget.
Status updates and task lists you review first
The assistant drafts and proposes. Nothing is posted, sent or added to a project until you review it and confirm, and it only acts within your own permissions.
- Two status draftsAn internal update for the team, and a client update built only from client-appropriate signals such as progress and finished milestones.
- Meeting to tasksFrom a recorded meeting with a transcript, pick the suggested tasks you want. A task that already exists is not added twice.
- A project from a briefPaste a brief and get a proposed project with its tasks. A vague brief gets a question, not a guess.
Project management for agencies that bill their clients
When you shop for agency project management software, the test is the client: one CRM that holds the deal, the board, the hours and the invoice. Laureo is all-in-one CRM and project management for that loop, which makes it a strong fit for a small business that sells, delivers and bills the same customers.
One plain limit: there is no workload or capacity planning across your team. Laureo projects are client delivery inside the CRM, not a standalone project suite: a project started from a won deal stays linked to that deal and its company. See how it fits on the CRM for agencies page.
